Corporate Training built on real experience, not theory

We started in 2017 with one facilitator and a single client. Today we are a team of nine, and we have delivered programmes in sectors ranging from financial services to food manufacturing. This page tells you who we are and why we do this work.

Our base is in Wales, but we train teams across the UK. About 40% of our sessions now happen online, which means geography rarely gets in the way.

Our founder delivering a training session

How we got here

The company began because our founder, Rachel Moran, kept running into the same problem. She had spent twelve years in HR leadership roles at two FTSE 250 firms, and every external training provider she hired followed the same pattern: a polished slide deck, an enthusiastic facilitator, and absolutely no follow-up. Participants enjoyed the day. Nothing changed afterwards.

Rachel wanted to build something different. She left her corporate role in early 2017 and took on her first client, a logistics company in Cardiff with 80 staff and a manager retention problem. Over six months she designed a leadership programme that included monthly coaching check-ins, peer accountability groups, and a simple tracking spreadsheet that managers filled in every Friday. Manager turnover at that company dropped from 31% to 9% within a year.

Word spread. By the end of 2018 we had four regular clients and brought on a second facilitator, David Parry, who had previously run operations training at a national retailer. David brought a rigour for process mapping and systems thinking that complemented Rachel's people-first approach.

2017

Founded in Upton Schmittley, Wales. First client engagement: a six-month leadership programme for a Cardiff logistics firm.

2019

Expanded to five facilitators. Launched our compliance training division after demand from regulated-sector clients.

2020

Moved all delivery online within two weeks of the first lockdown. Developed our asynchronous learning toolkit for distributed teams.

2022

Passed 500 programmes delivered. Introduced our 30/90-day outcome survey, now standard across every engagement.

2024

Trained professionals at 47 organisations. Opened a second workspace in Bristol for in-person sessions in the South West.

What we believe

We do not have a framed mission statement on the wall. But there are four principles that shape every decision we make, from how we price a programme to how we handle a session that falls flat.

Measure or it did not happen

If we cannot show you what changed after a programme, the programme was not good enough. We survey participants and their managers at 30 and 90 days, and we share the full data, not a cherry-picked summary.

Small groups, real practice

We cap most sessions at twelve participants. Lectures scale well; behaviour change does not. People need to practise difficult conversations in front of a facilitator who can give them feedback in the moment.

Your context, not our template

Before we write a single exercise, we spend time inside your organisation. We read your engagement survey results, sit in on meetings, and interview a cross-section of staff. The programme we deliver should feel like it was built for you, because it was.

Honest when it goes wrong

Some sessions miss the mark. When that happens, we tell you before you tell us. Our policy is to re-run any session that scores below 7.5 out of 10 at no extra cost. In 2024 that happened three times out of 189 sessions.

The people behind the programmes

Our facilitators have between eight and twenty years of industry experience before joining us. Nobody on the team has only ever been a trainer. That matters because participants can tell within five minutes whether the person at the front of the room has done the job they are being taught about.

Beyond these three, we have six associate facilitators who cover specialist topics: presentation skills, data literacy, conflict resolution, and customer-service training. Each associate is vetted through a live audition session observed by at least two senior team members.

Members of the Focus Corporate Training team during a break

We meet as a full team every six weeks to review client feedback, share facilitation techniques that worked, and flag anything that did not. These sessions are recorded and archived so new associates can learn from the accumulated experience of the group.
